QUICK REVIEW: Scott Pilgrim vs The World

Okay, let me set the scene.

You are sitting in a comfortable chair in a dimly lit room with dark figures surrounding you. The figure appear to be ignoring you. You look forward an see a large blank screen. There also seems to be music in the air. Oh, it's Abba. That's awful, ignore it.

You see a few a small lights where some of the faceless figures appear to playing tetris on their phones?!

The lights go out. The phones turn off. You see the Universal logo, it seems a bit more pixelated than normal. Then, you hear this...

That feeling you got just then, the "holy shit this is awesome" stays with you for the

Seriously.

Not only is the movie outstanding on it's own two feet but Shaun of the Dead Edgar Wright brought that comic series to movie in a way no one else could have. All the little details kept the same, it was truly a masterpiece. His passion and understanding of the genre shone through in every frame.

My favourite parts for me were the fight scenes most definitely. So beautifully choreographed I couldn't look away to the find the popcorn I dropped in awe! The in-jokes come a close second. This movie made me feel like being a nerd was cool! Games really bring people together so thank you Bryan Lee O'Malley

I hope by now that everyone who would appreciate fully it has already seen it. I can't wait to get the DVD and I have to have that soundtrack!

QUICK REVIEW: Video Games Live

...was one of the best concerts I have ever been too.

Since we arrived early we had a peek at the merch outside the hall. Selling the usual T-Shirts, Posters and CD's. They had really awesome necklaces there though which glow green via a small LED. Love it.

We got to our seats near the front and even with no one on the stage it's pretty impressive. Orchestra instruments set up and big screens everywhere. Rather intimidating haha.

To inform everyone that the show was to start soon they played a video on the big screens which some of you probably already know:

It's rather chucklesome but not really my thing as it's mainly Anime related. A lot of the crowd loved it but most gamers now seem to be anime fans too. Probably Final Fantasy's fault >:(

Then on rolled the cosplayers in a line ready to be judged for the competition. I unfortunately do not have a camera at the moment so I can't show them to you. There were some good and some half-arsed, but it is Cardiff. My favourites included Guybrush Threepwood (Monkey Island), guy dressed as Princess Peach (Super Mario Bros) and the four Splicers (Bioshock). Splicers ended up winning :D

A Michael Jackson tribute was then put on. Gamer Style. Followed shortly after by a Ms. Pacman thriller.

The lights went down low and the stage lit up with green. The composer, Jack Wall, came on along with the orchestra (Lucy Morgan) and choir (Cardiff Celtic Voices). Now just a note, every video game piece was introduced by the creator of the game via a video and then a montage usually of game cut-scenes and/or footage while the music plays.

#1 Classic Arcade Medley - Featured a wide range of classics. Everyone was going wild seeing some of the stuff we hadn't seen in years. Rough video here.

#2 Metal Gear - What made this piece extra interesting, was the fact that half way through, when it got intense, a bloke all suited up came onto the stage and skulked around, followed by a cardboard box. The best bit though was when the exclamation mark shot up behind his head along with the sound. Bloody great. A rough video from someone else that night can be found here.

#3 God of War - The choir really knocked this one out of the park. It was bloody beautiful.

Our host Tommy Tallarico then popped out of the cardboard box which was left on stage though the GOW performance and introduced himself. Then we were told someone in the audience was to take part in a competition live on stage to win a desktop arcade machine which had over 5000 classic games on!! A girl was picked from the crowd and she was brought onto the stage and dressed in a very large shirt with the ship from Space Invaders on. She had to be the ship. The game was put up on the screens and she had to beat the first level in 2 minutes. Would have been a piece of cake if not for the immense stress haha. Poor girl almost got it but lost all 5 lives with 2 invaders left :( She did get some consolation prizes though.

We were then treated to a really cute video of Ralph Baer (Father of Video Games) playing ping pong on the television set. I was told it was 1968 but the video here says 1969.

We also got the honour of talking to him live via Skype video! 89 years old now. Such a lovely man.

#4 Kingdom Hearts - Instead was accompanied by original Disney film footage of all the characters that turned up in the games. The video and music was synced beautifully.

#5 Sonic the Hedgehog - Music was always good, should have let the series die a while ago though in my opinion.

#7 Legend of Zelda - Got the biggest cheers for this one of course

20 Minute break which allowed me to transfer all of my review notes from my arm to pieces of paper which Dewi pointed out :/ Of course writing on the CIA flyers put on our seats would have been smart. Damn it.

To ensure everyone was back to their seats in time another video was played. This time Nintendo based. Unfortunately I cannot find the video at the moment, but I shall keep looking.

The ringing from the Metal Gear series started and Snake answered. Just rang to introduce our host back onto the stage :P

#8 Starcraft 2 - Video was made up of mostly artwork but some quite good game footage was put in.

#10 Super Mario Bros - The place literally filled with cheering. Everyone loves these games.

#11 Chrono Cross + Trigger - Apparently the most requested video game music for them to play. Tom came on with his electric guitar and rocked it. Jack joined in on acoustic later on. Definitely some damn good music.

Tom asks Jack if the laptop is ready for the next bit. Jack says no way. Tom explains that it's a mac. Crowd understands.

Instead a young man that won an earlier Guitar Hero competition for Video Games Live was pushed on stage and given a guitar controller. Tom explained that if the young man can get over 17500 points on Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion (Hard) then he can walk away with shit loads of stuff including Koji Kondo signed merchandise. The young man simply states that he would prefer expert. Crowd goes wild cheering him on: Expert! Expert! Expert! Tom seems reluctant but allows it.

Now this young man plays like a legend. It was incredible! The orchestra and Tom on his guitar played the song along with the game and halfway through the young man and Tom played back to back rocking out. Fantastic show. He ended up with a score of 300926 and a streak of 509 notes.

#12 Megaman - Tom still had his guitar and was pulling the strangest faces when playing haha!

Jack exclaimed the laptop was ready. Tom excitedly told us that we were going to talk to, live on Skype, the composer of Halo, Marty O'Donnell!

Wait... Connection lost.

Oh well on with the show!

#13 Halo - Tom really out did himself on this one. The solos were amazing! Also at the end of the song Masterchief ran on stage waving a flag. The crowd went mental! Rough video here.

The orchestra and choir stayed on stage while the composers Jack and Tom bowed and left. Obviously waiting for the encore. Of course, Cardiff obliged.

Tom and Jack came back and took their places. Tom changed his guitar to a fantastic looking Spiderman one. He was obviously going to do some seriously shredding now. He asked for everyone to put their phones and whatever tech they had in the air and wave them. Slipped in a comment of "Hold on, the PSP's are still booting". Together we sang/hummed the Super Mario Bros theme which was rather amusing :P

Tom asked us to guess the next games music they were to play.

Everyone yelled "Final Fantasy!!!", well except one guy who yelled "Duke Nukem" lol.

#14 Final Fantasy VII - One Winged Angel. The video for this amazing piece was made up of cosplay photos. Professional and amazing ones only thankfully. This song is great anyway, but live, it blows your mind. I have never liked any of the series but this piece of music is just too amazing to dislike. Tom was shredding like mad. He obviously loved playing this because he was even head banging with the cellos. Jack even did a creepy close up into the screen which freaked us out haha! Nice touch with the "Cosplay FTW" at the end of the video.

Tom mouths to Jack "One More?", Jack nods. While Jack sets up the next piece Tom take the opportunity to promote their album "Video Games Live Volume 1" and exclaims that this next piece is the last song on that album

#15 Castlevania - Got the crowd involved with this one quite a lot and did a great jump and shred finish on the guitar.

They received a well deserved standing ovation.

I was sad to see them go. However they did do a meet and greet after but I was far too nervous and my arm was covered in ink :P

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SEEING THIS IF YOU CAN.

Video games aren't just for kids and they are certainly not to be overlooked. It's culture now bitches and it's here to stay.

DAY ONE: LAN #30 WRITE UP

Day One - Saturday 24th October

It is 9am in the god damn morning and here I am lugging my PC into a hall of geeks who seem far too bloody awake. Not many PCs set up yet, but I am a little earlier than usual. I have literally just found a seat and already the dirty half-breed PirateNinja has scared the bejesus out of me and something tells me it won't be the last I hear of him.

We wake everyone up with a nice Gungame round and a side of smack talk. Meanwhile the place starts to fill up and it looks more like a traditional full LAN around 11am. Lazy buggers. Mayo and Mooshy try desperately to get the nerds enthusiastic about the weird and wonderful tournaments this early in the afternoon. I ninja an eFragz LAN booklet and take a peek at the tournaments and as expected the boys have set up a nice range. We have the usual Dawn of War and Pangya based competitions and the big secret tournament that has been kept scrupulously hush hush. All we are told is that it is named "I Am Legend" and it takes up 4 Rounds and Quarter and Semi - Finals. I wonder what they will put us through this time...What is different though is that the whole caboodle appears to be happening today so it is going to be a jam packed day indeed!

As everyone has settled, Monkey takes the opportunity to swing on stage and use his announcement voice to give us peons a little more information on "I Am Legend". Apparently the score taking will be done in teams, which does indeed seem more efficient, however not to be confused with working in teams. Every man for themselves!

A CS:S LAN server is set up and things get heated. Albeit I did spend most of the game blind from the flashbang spam, but I heard other people actually saw stuff and shot people. There were some skill shots I did happen to catch thankfully. No, none from me. I was rather impressed with Minty's grenade skills. He's flippin' dangerous.

I.A.L. ROUND ONE: RAPTOR SAFARI

This game at first is just irritating, but then it becomes irritating in an addictive way.

Basically, you are a rather spiffing raptor that has acquired a jeep and driving skills. As this raptor, you are urged to run over and kill the lower class raptors. Then, with your trusty retractable giant mace attached to the jeep, you can drag the carcasses into beams of light scattered around the map for extra points. Yeah. Much guffawing had by all!

Suddenly!! BANG!!!!

TENT BIG BADDA BOOM

The admins leap out of their seats and rush to the scene. Everyone else simply watches.

I.A.L. ROUND TWO: BLOODMASTERS

Each group set up their own server and played a deathmatch. Points distributed based on final highscore.

This is a rather cute little arcade, top-down shooter.

Apart from the small issues we had setting up the server (which was fixed by admin powah) it went smoothly. This game makes for great laughter and pewpew-age. Our rounds included a lot of rocket spam and incinerating! After each team had fought out their epic battle, our kill count was recorded and dealt with in the usual secret eFragger way, leaving us in anticipation!

A COD4 server was set up on the LAN promptly after the round ended however to my dismay I could not join in the fun as Punkbuster decided to make me it's bitch, yet again.

I.A.L. ROUND THREE: TRACKMANIA

Points distributed based on final lap time.
A fantastic racing game which really is addictive and great considering it is free.

Groups of 4 use the admin pc's to race a few laps on a track unknown to us. This round went on for quite a while in the background too because being in only four's it took many races to get everyones scores. The games got quite intense and hopefully I wasn't the only poor bugger that completely failed at it. My chosen excuse is that I have not touched the game in soooo long because I forgot of it's existence sadly. Also, my hand cramped up! Monkey was very sad that my failure was while using his glorious eFragz personalized car. Whoops.

While the admins oiled the cogs in the eFragz machine, we were all entertaining ourselves in waiting for the next round. I decided to try and old game I had gotten a while ago called "Clive Barkers Undying". Now, it appears that at our LAN's, if you play an obscure or even just old game, then the geeks shall flock. I found my self surrounded within minutes. It would have been rather daunting to the old me, however it's a great way to meet everyone and they mean now harm :P

I.A.L. ROUND FOUR: GUNGAME

Points distributed based on kill count/level
Gungame is a mod for Counterstrike:Source and basically you have kill until you get to knife level (lvl 23). Each level gives you a new weapon and two kills are required to go up a level. Back stabs take away a level from the victim and increase a level for the backstabber.

No respawn was allowed so once you died, you had to wait until everyone did. That always winds people up. Our group's game got pretty intense towards the end but Snuggles came out on top.

While the other groups played their rounds, our group played a little Left4Dead but my steam kept causing crashes so I finally gave up and decided to mope in the corner. Having a lot of issues this LAN aren't I?

I.A.L. SEMI FINALS/FINALS: STREET FIGHTER

I will be honest, I missed all of the semi finals and the finals because fighting games never could hold my interest and I was still trying to resuscitate my computer. However Monkey should hopefully fill this in for the write-up on the site because it did sound rather exciting! All I know is that Thormann won in the end via button bashing for his life, (a great reason why I hate those games :P)

After all the commotion from the finals died down, Mayo approached me, no scared the shit out of me, in his costume. I was wondering if we weird few would get to dress up! After giving him a bug hug, covering me in blood, I scooted to the toilets to get changed. As I open the door to the ladies I find myself thinking someone had an accident, then I remember the sheer amount of blood on Mayo. So, trying not to slip in what I hope is fake blood and not lady yukkiness, I change into my gear. While I am lacing myself up I can hear loads of people outside the door. Chatting. About me. Fuck. Nerves kick in. Nah, I am hearing things, I say, and carry on lacing up.

I open the door all done up as my alter ego the Vampire Queen (during the day I wore normal clothes but with a vampire bite) and see a group of fancy dress! I loved it! It is so hard to get people to dress up these day and it is a god damn shame. We all had a laugh. Dewi took the chance to get changed and when we got together for the photo's we looked bloody good!

MarlB got into his expert photographer stance (which looks like him standing up) and was about to click when some kind of black and red thing shuffled through the door next to us. We all turned in curiosity and then heard the laughter that followed behind it. It's arms started to flail about and I latched onto Dewi in fear for my life. Suddenly the head rolled back and it was Grumpy Old! He jumped into the photo and because of his entrance, we were all still falling about laughing. MarlB tried to get some shots but we couldn't stay still!

We all go back to our seats, still dressed, and play our games and do our own thing. My own thing included watching some good old Japanese Gore. Since it was Halloween, I decided to introduce a few of my LAN mates to the wonder of it. My chosen film you ask? Tokyo Zankoku Keisatsu/Tokyo Gore Police. I showed them a few of my favourite scenes and then told them where to get it off me on DC++.

Go on, give it a whirl, you know you want to!

Anyway... As usual, a movie is projected onto the screen wall while some of us play the last of our games and some of us get ready for light's out. Our movie of the night was Dusk Till Dawn, which was fitting I guess, being Halloween soon and all.

While I get ready for bed by packing up some of the food and clearing the table, I am casually watching the film and I notice something. Is it me or does Mooshy resemble Tarantino? And by resemble I mean omg Mooshy knows Clooney!!!11!!1

Tonight I get to sleep like a true lanner! Usually I would pay for a room in the dorms but this time I sleep on the stage. I was rather excited actually, until I got all cozy and ~~Thormann~~ Santa started snoring. Oh my god that bugger snores like a foghorn.

I mean I hardly get any time to game at the moment anyway. My energy is just draining from me but if I am up, I am on Gungame or watching a movie.

I promised myself I would not do this because of the game that shall not be named. That was an embarrassing phase to say the least.

Anyway just saying, if you fancy a game, I tend to be on the UK Warcore servers, or you could just add me on steam (all my details are to the right under my profile).

UK Warcore is a great bunch of people, I am a sucker for mic users not abusers. It's a great laugh this mod and it's made a lot better with mics.

Seriously, trying to fix a problem you created with a dick move like that.

Yes, Idle Servers fucking suck. Tremendously. I also find it hilarious that the poor buggers who used them have had all their "hard work" crushed.

However looking from their point of view, the "cheaters" that is, it's a bit of a kick in face. I mean apparently Valve were perfectly fine with the servers to begin with and random drops is an incredibly crappy idea but now Valve has a bad case of PMS and decided to crap over everyone and stab backs.

They better keep their promise and find new ways to get items.

I think Valve needs to chill out a bit. All I am saying.

P.S. I am very pleased that using idle servers is punishable though mwahahaha

Lately I have been getting a lot of "Awwhh, Beeethhh" and it's been bugging me. I don't get out much but it's not like I am immensly sheltered here!

Some of the examples of things I have said which have been followed by that uncalled for reply:

QUICK REVIEW: Batman: Arkham Asylum

Well well, I haven't seen the light of day since this came out. It has to be the hardest game to pry away from since Portal.

Now I am not a hardcore Batman fan, in fact I dislike him as a rule. I prefer Marvel :P However that is about as important as a coaster to a student. This game is fucking amazing whether you like the bugger or not.

I have however always loved the Joker. Riddler too. You get them all in this gem.

It's easy to pick up if you don't game and it's got the difficulty options if you do. The environment is very grim most of the time but that's what he is all about right? I spent most of my time in "Detective Mode" anyway, bloody useful that.

So many gadgets but not too many so you don't get confused! Every single one is used frequently.

Playing through the game will gradually unlock many things including:

Upgrades for your armour, combat and gadgets
Character files full of all the information on villains and other main characters you could ever want, including for some, interview tapes from their time at the asylum
Character Trophies which give you a better look at all the characters in the game
Challenges for if you want a little more action than the story is giving you

My favourite part of the game is the Riddler's Riddles! Whenever you arrive in a new part of the map you get a riddle to solve and the answer is always something to take a "picture" of. These riddles are bound to get you looking at the scenery in more depth and get harder as you go. There are also trophies scattered about the entire island, some you will have to come back for at a later time because a different gadget is needed as well as some small challenges mainly made of the slaughter of wind-up chattering teeth!

Another nice touch I have found, is the fear induced playable visions. Scarecrow creeped the hell out of me before but these made it oh so much worse!

All in all, this game is just awesome. I recommend buying this on a console however since it'll be a little less fun using the keyboard and mouse get up.

p.s. 360 ftw.

are actually in a fucking idle server.

This appears to have gone over some peoples' heads. What I mean is that the game Team Fortress 2 now sucks because you pick up items randomly, causing people to not actually play most of the time but to sit on an idle goddamn server and let the items (e.g. fuckinggoddamnhats) just pile up.

Halloweeeeen and BATMAN

Yeah it is a bit early to talk but it's the only holiday I really look forward too!!

I have already started my shopping for bits and bobs for my LAN costume. I was told I was not allowed to be anything that wasn't scary D:

So vampire it is. Haven't been Vampire in a long time. I really can't wait! My only hope is that I don't get lost in it because I have a thing for Vampires. (fuck twilight).

Yup you read that correctly. I am being threatened by my nemesis to update this here bloggy. Unfortunately I can't think of a subject to focus on so I'll just wing it.

Firstly I would like to apologise for not updating as frequently as I would have liked to but *EXCUSE TIME* you need money to buy games and then to talk about them :P Oh yeah I went there! I'm skint big surprise.

Another excuse I would like to add to the pile is that I haven't really been on the PC as much. Steam hadn't seen me in ages! I have been trying to open my doors to new experiences, aka the console. I have had a 360 in my room for a couple of months only to play silly games when incredibly bored. However lately I have been cramming in as much GOW2 as possible so I can get good at at least ONE multiplayer console game. So far, so average. It frustrates me getting called a n00b on the xbox when I can hand their asses to them if it was on PC.

Oh, actually who cares about my itty bitty problems when...

EFRAGZ LAN #30 DATES HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED!

That's right! From 24th-25th October this year I will be pewpewing with the eFraggers at the 30th anniversary LAN! I only wish I could do more for them to be honest. After all I am just a fragger who brings baked goods.

This LAN is special for me in a specific way because that time last year was my first time meet them all. I happened to be dressed in my uniform at the time aswell.

And so it will technically be one year with eFragz at LAN #30. One tremendous year at that.

After all they brought so much into this average girl's life. Here are some of my fondest memories:

All in all I found a lot out about myself that I never would have without these guys.

Some of it good some even bad, but the truth is, I told these guys WAY too
much information on the night out and now I can't leave!!!

QUICK REVIEW: Battlefield Heroes

Well this is a rather cute game haha! Been lured into it via the eFraggers and was pleasantly surprised. Not that it's good, I just wasn't bored out of my skull.

I'm kidding. The game is alright but could be great so easily. One major Pro is that it is completely free (unless you specfically wish to dress it up like the barbie you always secretly wanted).

Good heavens! I am pretty!

There are two factions, Royal and National Army, and each have the same three classes, Soldier, Gunner and Commando, but that is it. Not much of a range but you will find something to your liking.

The Soldier is the all round guy, good support. Abilities can include Burning Bullets, Grenade Spam and Combat Medicine.

The Gunner is the tank basically. Abilities can include I Eats Grenades, Frenzie Fire and Hero Sheild

The Commando is a sneaky bastard. Albilities can include Stealth, Troop Trap and Poisoned Blade.

It's a fun game if you are more recreation than harcore but as any MMO it can be addictive. The graphics are bright and simple so it's not dark and gritty like you are probably used to. You can level up your heroes as you fight and dress yourself silly with the points earned, or of course you can buy better guns! However guns and clothes have limits ranging from 7 days to 1 month (Unlimited is available with certain items however it does not come cheap). Also, there are groups/guilds available so it's a good game to play with friends (or against).

The flaws that stand out are as follows:

>Small choice in classes

>Constant connection issues
>Friends list bugs
>The time limits on bought items

BUT IT IS FREE EA GAME AND NOT UTTER CRAP.

XBOX 360 DISTRESSED DEADPOOL

I have kept quite about it but I decided to do a full paint job on my xbox360. Black is nice but I wanted my own look.I was pondering on just painting it purple (favourite colour) but then I thought NO! I am going to all the trouble to take it apart that I will bloody paint something!

I dove deep into my mind and pulled out the first thing I thought of. That first thing, well it was Wade Wilson of course aka Deadpool.

I love this man.

So yeah, here it is: (it's red and black, phone cam makes it look pink :/)

The pattern is based one of the variations of his costume

This is the well known logo for Deadpool

I chose this font from the few that are used in the Deadpool comic books.

I used the same costume pattern on the controllers also.

It's my first time painting a console so be nice! I didn't want it looking too perfect because I don't think I would look as nice so I went for a slightly distressed look.

Overall I love it! Oh so much <3

L4D Custom Campaigns

Hey there Guy and Gals!

I have been busy playing Left 4 Dead and I think you should be too! I hear a lot of "Oh, it gets repetative" "I get tired of it after about 10 minutes". Well you can shut your cake hole.

As for everyone else, if you are troubled by the fact the campaigns are getting samey and just can't compare to your awesomeness, well get some custom campaigns and break out the guns again.

Oh sweet mercy I love this campaign. I want it's babies. The keys, the bosses, the map! It's so damn beauitful. Also playing it with your team members humming the themes down the mic makes it that much more fun! Haha

POWERSTATION

This is a bitch! Full of booby traps and will take many re-dos. However there ARE saferooms so you will eventually finish it :P A lot of swearing required.

A big map, but too big. Kept getting lost :( It's only on here because of the sheer amount of detail put into the map.

I will not doubt add more to this as I play them.

QUICK REVIEW: Saints Row 2 (laaattteee)

Oh dear I feel so bad for being lattteeee :P

A guilty pleasure poped up again haha! I found my copy of Saints Row 2 (PC). Yeahh.

If someone described to me this game and asked if I wanted it free I would probably say nah. give it to someone who'd like the game. However, I don't remember why I got it but I am glad I did. It is incredibly addictive and I am falling in love with my character! Especially now that he sounds like the Sniper from TF2 *swoon*

Anyway! I love this game and I am not sure why to be completely honest. The music is mostly hip hop but I very much apprieciate that I can make my own radio station. I have my character in cars singing along to Take On Me by A-ha and Don't You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds. How awesome!

The story is great and easy to follow! The missions are fun and varied which I like in a game of course. The most fun I have though Is when I am customising my character. Finding new shops with new jewelry or clothes. I think there should be more tats though! Don't get me wrong, they have put in quite a lot but I still want more :P

Driving is amusing too! Some of the cars I just can't handle (insert witty joke about female drivers) but some are just so easy. The garage allows the choice of keeping and customising your favourites and you will never use the same one for everything. You need different types of vehicles for different situations. I will admit though that my garage is mainly bikes but that is a personal thing :D

I HAVE NOT FINISHED IT YET but it is a loooonnnggg game. I finish games quite fast but with this it paces you out and I keep getting distracted with other things haha. That might just be my attention span though, or lack of it I should say!

My only issue with this game is rather apparent however and thats the fps lag. My PC isn't top market but it isn't average either. Yet this game refuses to run smoothly. I have to have it on a low setting to give it a little kick yet still bumpy. It's quite annoying during car chases and in general. Thats why I give it

Popped over to the new LAN centre in Cardiff yesterday night. I actually went oustide and spoke to another person omglol.

Anyway, I picked a bad night to go! It was meant to be hosting a L4D tournament, however it was almost empty :( (I am told that Uni people are what the place lives on atm and they have all buggered off for the summer) I set up an account anyway with 4 hours on and sat down to try the place out. I love it. It's clean and very snazzy! The set up on the PC's is easy and great, also they have so many games to choose from! FPS, RPG, Puzzle, Classics, you name it.

Basically how it works is you arrive at the place, give the guy a username you wish to go by and pay him for some hours how ever many you want and sit down at a PC. When you sit down just login with your username and it'll ask you to setup your accounts with details such as name, email and a password. Once that's done just use the program to pick a game or even application to use (It's not just for gaming!!) and hey presto you are done!

The guy there is lovely and very helpful on the phone! (I can be quite confusing!!), his brother that came in a little later to take over seemed nice too. I didn't get to know him as I had to pop off by then.

Overall it is a nice place and should be great when things kick start up. I will definately be going back there for the next tourny. Heck they deserve my money just for doing what every bugger I know dreams of, starting their own gaming centre.

LAN #29 DAY TWO

Morning!

I just got up around 7:30am and started the day off with some COD4. Not my best game in world but hey I was full of the flu and just got up.

I believe the first game of the day is Pangya. I am not a huge fan of this "game" but at a LAN with a bunch of friends it can actually become rather addictive and fun. There is almost as much swearing as when we play CS:S! We'll be doing a Pangya cup and the winner, well I have no idea what they'll win. Last time we had two tournaments and I won one of them and went home with a homemade golf club. It was hilarious. It would have been a better prize but it wasn't meant to be two tournements. There was a power cut on one side so we started another which was the one I won.

Thats odd, it seems I have either missed the Pangya cup or it's been cancelled.

However we have been watching some great youtube vids on the big screen on the stage. Including some of the following:

Nevermind again! It was only postponed because of a late arrival I believe.

Most people enjoyed the cup. I was...until I went from -1 to 4. ¬_¬.

I think I will leave it to the pros! This game is just too girly for me.

The winrar - THE LEGENDARY MONKEY! A few called bullshit but the bugger fought for it. Spade had the top score for most of the game with Rapid not far behind but then Monkey charged through to the end to collect his trophy.

Time for some relaxing COD4.

Quite a lot of us got together and played a few rounds of Sabotage and it was hectic. All great players and a lot of ninja-ing knife wounds and sneaky sniping. I only stuck around for one round of Team Deathmatch only because I had been playing TD's all day and wasn't really in the mood for another. My own fault :P

While we were playing there was the final of the DOW2 tournament going on. I heard down the grapevine that Octochicken won! Good going! I am not one for Strategy games. I have tried a few and I can't get hooked so I guess they aren't for me. Plus the whole dislike of Warhammer.

I would be indifferent however Alex talks about it 24/7, relating it to life, talking about colour schemes, lore etc. So yeah, I hate it now. Pity.

I did try a game once. I won. And I even started collecting a Dark Elf army. However with Alex you can't be casual its All In or All Out so I gave up on it.

Next thing along according to the schedule is the Final Battle in the INDIE-PENDANCE TOURNAMENT! Can't wait to see what the territory's are all about. eFragz have always been great at keeping everyone guessing!

The Final Battle

BATTLE GROUNDS 2, A Half-Life 2 Mod

That was amazing! First to 2000 points wins, however since England had the majority of the territory they only had to get 1400.

The map had 4 flags to capture however we were not allowed to touch eachother home bases because it would screw up the points.

I don't know if you have ever played Battle Grounds but I can easily tell you it is flipping horrible!!! It's slow and the weapons suck. However when £20 in steam is on the table, it becomes life or death.

It was a brutal battle, and lasted for many years. Both the Valley Pass and the Munition Wagon were fought for and many laid there lives down to win. It started in the favour of the USA but England just kept catching up. It started getting closer and closer. The voice chat full of tension and anguish.

Many battle crys and blood shed later and USA WAS VICTORIOUS!!

THIS IS WHY I LOVE GAMING GODDAMNIT!

LAN #29 DAY ONE

Been awhile right? I have been really ill so I haven't really had much to write about.

However today I have drugged myself up and forced myself to this LAN. I mean come on, there was no way in hell I was going to miss this :P

This morning's arrival was not as hectic as it usually is! I was a little early and it was quite strange to see the place almost empty. Delivered my cake to the admins as well as some special cupcakes I made for them. They were pleased :D

So the gaming started off with an eventful Gungame. Server got packed fast as it's a favourite here! As gungame went on, the place filled up with faces I knew and faces I didn't. Then in the afternoon the tournament rules were announced. Instead of a large prize and a lot of small ones, the winners are all getting £15 on Steam, pretty nifty :D

*W00T, I was chosen for the elite team. However even though we were all elite, we found it a little hard to work together. Anyway we tried our hardest. Let's hope it paid off.

Took a nice well deserved break and had some lovely burgers from the bbq. Yum yum!

Looking around now, everyone is doing their own thing. I am sure people like this part of the evening...however I never do. I am left alone with nothing to play. My single player games have all been played during breaks in organised games and now I am bored of them. There are multiplayer games going on but in small groups so it's almost like I would be intruding because after all they are split by who they know.

Anyway it's been an hour or so of this and I have lived so it's all good.

Now it's time to get back to the tournament!

Mmm Vanilla Cookies...

Oh hai!

Supernatural Soundtrack is taking quite some time but it will be with you shortly!

As for the actually meaning behind this post VANILLA COOKIES! I found an old cook book and decided to make some simple but lovely cookies to celebrate my sister passing her driving test.

Anyway they were gorgeous! Made a chocolate cream dip with them too!

Here's the recipe:

VANILLA BISCUITS

6 oz. plain flour

1 egg

A pinch of salt A few drops of vanilla essence

3 oz. butter

3 oz. caster suger

Milk to mix

Sift the flour and salt.

Cream the fat and sugar and when light and fluffy, beat in the egg.

Add the essence, stir in the flour and mix to stiff paste with milk.

Roll the dough out 1/8 inch thick on a lightly floured board, prick
and use cookie cutters.

Put onto a greased baking tray.

Bake in a moderately heated oven on 180 degrees for 10-15 mins.

They will be a very light brown and lovely an moist <3

Will make around 24 biscuits obviously dependant on the cutter.

I wish I had started this when it came out...Mind you my review would just be "holy shit" over and over again. I think I prefer more than a two word vocabulary when reviewing ^_^

Made a lovely coconut and vanilla cheesecake and the dough for some peanut butter and chocolate chip sandwich cookies are in the fridge chilling :P

I haven't been gaming in a while now, it always seems to happen right before a LAN. I think I get so nervous that I can't do it.

I'll never win the 22" screen now D: Haha.

Girl Gamers

Okay, so maybe this isn't a daily thing! Doesn't matter though right? :P

Feeling a little grumpy lately because of the lack of gaming. Yeah yeah my fault I know. I just really want to game with the eFz guys but they hardly play anything anymore.

Strangers are nice but I can't use the mic unless I can be bothered with idiots and the "omg a girl"

Thankfully it's not as bad as most girls make it out to be.

Bloody girl gamers eh? I get invites to "girls only" steam groups and random chicks saying we should be friends O_O. It makes me sigh because they make the stereotype. I have met two major criminals in that area. One I met on World of Warcraft and the other on an old TF2 clan forum.

My presence starts it off.

First it's "Oh hi, It's great to finally meet another of the female species, we should totally hang out" or something similar.

Then suddenly I get crap off them for talking to any guys in the clan/group and becoming friends. As if I have disturbed their little coop. Oh I am sorry, are these men yours?

Oh and my favourite is next, the shit stirring. The rumours. Are we in highschool again? Fantastic, I will go and grab my sketchbooks so you can push them onto the floor for me.

Eventually I tell them to screw themselves and leave.

Seriously though. There are loads of female gamers nowadays. Oh and no I am not counting the ones who think they are a girlgamer by playing Sims.

Wow I am getting high and mighty. I apologise. I just get so worked up on this matter.

No guy wants a girl who would rather play counterstrike with you than go out clubbing or whatever. They want a girl who wears cute glasses, tons of make-up and plays an MMORPG.

And what is with the "components on teh nekkid". Seriously GTFO my RAM.

Sometimes I get sick of being one of the guys. Can't help my hobbies.

QUICK REVIEW: Prototype

If you like free running, get Prototype. Heck get it anyway.

I love this game. I hardly ever get invloved with new single players. I end up getting disappointed. This gem however is addictive, fun and care free.

There is of course a story to follow, however there are other missions/challenges that you can do if you wish to roam. The graphics aren't amazing but interesting. The changing in your character Alex Mercer is well done and there are many different powers you can get. Also almost everything is upgradable so you can choose your favourites. The points to upgrade are easy to get, just follow the story and/or do challenges.

The controls are easy and the maps and layout are also simple. The story isn't as gripping and I would want it to be but still good.

All I can say to sum it up really is that I have had a very hard time turning this game off because it's just so fun to play.

Its given me a lot of time to game being a bum but hardly anyone I know is playing the games I play.

I want to log on and see everyone on Left4Dead or Counterstrike: Source.

Instead I see everyone on single player games and Team Fortress2. Not to mention the THING THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED. I will give you a hint... Beginnings with "World" and has "of" in the middle. Yeah I am a reformed addict.

At least I have my precious gungame server. Precious.

Gah.

Been playing Prototype for a bit. Well thats an understatement. It's a lot of fun. I actually enjoyed a new single player game. Hm. Weird.

I am starving now so I shall be off!

QUICK REVIEW: Drag Me To Hell

Sam Raimi definitely made an entrance back into the Horror genre.

However, I loved his movies because they were hilarious and full of mushy peas.

Drag Me To Hell was funny at times and made me jump a lot. Never actually scared me but he doesn't do scary. I just found myself disgusted. Maybe it's the fact that special effects etc have gotten better but yeah the film put me off my popcorn. And that is a bloody hard thing to do.

In summary,
If you loved Evil Dead Series for the gross then you'll love this movie.
If you loved Evil Dead Series for the humour you maybe disappointed in the movie
However if you want to be chilled, scared and frightened, just skip it.

Yeah yeah it's late blah blah.

I am unemployed and the night is just so lovely. Nice and cool on the skin like silk.

I wish I could be a night accountant. That was one thing I hated about having a job, the day. The brightness and warmth makes me so tired it's hard to concentrate. Right now I feel great, it's pitch black save for the light on my screen and the very low lamp and its so nice and cold. The air seems sweeter too.

Anyway, tonight has been alright. Did some more sorting out regarding the room. Spacious almost.

I hadn't been able to get the full effect of my paintings (Pucca Set of 3, Cherry Blossom Branch), posters (3D Cyberman-with Tenant , Bumblebee-Not Original and of course my eFragz and "Interests" walls. Its nice to see them without all the crap everywhere :P. I say crap, but I mean keepsakes. So yeah crap. Had a big chuck out. I kept stuff from my primary school and all my old friends etc. Just chucked it all out. It's all in the past now.

Should flick through the Sandman collection. I love that series. My highschool I.T. Teacher, Mr. C, got me into that. I miss that guy. Mind you I still bring him a gift every year for Christmas. It's so funny to see him go red in the face. I am not a stalker or anything by the way haha. He probably thinks that, but he doesn't know that he actually saved me from taking my life. He'll probably never know and I am okay with that :)

As for the book I got this week, I was a bit disappointed that I got through the water god book and found it was to be continued. Graphic Novels eh? I just like to get drawn to a cover and go with it. I didn't know it was a graphic novel at all. Stupid Beth.

I have also gotten a little hooked on "The Hollow Chocolate Bunnies Of The Apocalypse". It's written well and the story is so odd.

Went for my fortnightly visit to the ever so boring Job Centre. I know they aren't paid to care but sometimes those people really annoy me. Going to have to see them weekly now for awhile since I suck at finding a job :P

At least I got to the library. I love the smell of that place. Got some new books to seek my teeth into.

Can't wait to get started.

Also I have had a good sort out in the room. Desk is nice and clean now and I can see my floor!

Fans Boycott Left 4 Dead 2

Valve sequel causes controversy.

UK, June 8, 2009 - Fans of 2008 first-person smash Left 4 Dead have reacted strongly to last week's news of a sequel, calling for a boycott to the new game in response to Valve's perceived lack of commitment to the original game.

At the time of writing some15,000 fans have registered their disdain on a Steam Community Group, (thanks,videogaming24/7) asking that 'Left 4 Dead 2 not be released as a stand-alone, full-priced sequel but as either a free update to Left 4 Dead or an expansion with full compatibility with basic Left 4 Dead owners.'

The news of a sequel for Left 4 Dead goes against Valve's typical practice, wherein titles are often in gestation for long periods and given extensive post-release support.

Valve's VP of Marketing Doug Lombardi reacted to the news in an interview late last week, telling RockPaperShotgun, 'There's more content coming for Left 4 Dead in the fairly near term, that I think will sort of add to this picture and hopefully change some people's opinions of what's happening right now.'

Left 4 Dead was one of 2008's highlights, earning a 9.2 when reviewed back in November. The sequel relocates the action to the Deep South, as well as adding frying pans and chainsaws into the mix - which all sounds like an awful lot of fun.

Been a very up and down day today.

Getting very addicted to Gungame now!!! I am not that good at it on the server I play on because these people play quite often! However at the LAN I seem pretty good haha. Also, on the server I am always trying to knife the buggers for killing me.

I watched the film Up earlier on aswell. Surprisingly good. Pixar really do great things with film. So funny and touching aswell. I was actually crying with laughter at some of the things said. If you are reading this, go watch it. I demand it!

Yesterday, as you can read, I was asked last minute to a Newton Faulkner concert in Bath. I was asked by a guy named Phil whom I met at my first eFragz LAN and again at the second. Seen him twice and yet it feels like I have known him forever. I guess it's his personality. Anyway this shocked me and I knew I was going to say no. However weirdly I thought about the film Yesman and said yes. As a freakish introvert I don't really see the outside of my house that often. I don't have any friends so-to-speak so I am programmed to decline anything which would make me go outside with people. I am so glad I said yes. I don't think he realises how amazing that night was for me. It sounds sad but you have to realise, I am not like you. The world outside is almost alien. So yeah that night meant so much.

On another important note, my amercian online mate Jesse has come into some family troubles and is feeling down. I tried to talk to him but I can't really help as much as I would want to. I used to be so good at solving peoples problems. A real people person would you believe it.

How lucky am I to have been asked to a Newton Faulker concert. Wow. That man, is beautiful.

I am definately not into Indie nonesense but my god he really is amazing. It was also my first concert I SAT down in. Usually its crush or be crushed.

Ah well first time for everything :D

Another walk to that nice cafe tomorrow. Looking forward to it :).

Another thing that crept into my head today is Skippy. Skippy is a lovely fellow who is going to the army soon. I am going to miss him a lot. He probably has no idea. He brings it up casually too and it actually saddens me. Hmph.

Time flies when Sims 3 arrives! Yeah yeah. Guilty pleasure. So much hype about it I had to know myself you know? It's good. They have succeeding in making it less of a hassle to get sims in a good mood. The lifetime achievments aren't bad either. Quite nice in fact. It irritates me that I can't get a female sim without a fat face :/. They are all so chubby. Hmph.

PC Gamer fell from my letterbox this morning, as did Sims 3, my Sennheiser PC166 and my seasonly Bravissimo catalogue. Good haul overall!

Except I spy the cover of my PC Gamer. Oh god no. L4D2. I forgot about that little f*cking thing. How could I forget you ask? God knows. But I was happy!! Valve what are you doing to me. Left4Dead is a game I hold very close to my heart (not my brain) and now you are replacing it. It's still so new. So young.

Now we get some stupid bright people and bright maps. It's all a bit Dead Rising -esk too. I dunno. I hate it. Couldn't they have added stuff onto the original? You ruined TF2 doing it...

All we need are servers that can turn certain updates off. So you can ban bloody Ambassador's and f*cking Sandmans. Just hear me out. It's becoming a joke and that "newer" L4D looks like one too.

Anyway, think good thoughts.

Had a crack at Killing Floor multiplayer eariler today. That was interesting. The music is catchy :). Used to worship metal. Still love it, but I have a wider range of music tastes now. I am sure this can be a good game. I just got led on that it was much better than it is. It just feels too much like a mod. I know it technically is but I wasn't informed of that. It looked great and had good write ups. Still. Moddy :/ And that damned woman. omgiwanttokickherintheface.

Had a lovely few games on CS:S with a friend of mine, Jesse. Gungame was the name, failing was my game. It had been awhile. Ugh. Met a few nice guys on a clan server, will definately re visit the server. It's nice to have people who talk on mics.

I guess that's all I have for now. I am so bloody uncomfortable in this heat I swear to god I will kill someone.

So, my plan to walk to Albany Road and back a few times a week has started today.

Met a nice cat who seemed to like us. Especially Alex. Started to follow us but we had to leave him behind :(

It was quiet and out of the way though so I could read while I had my wierdly named coffee.

It was a generally nice day today then I guess if you ignore the heat and sunlight.

Planning to pop into V-Sync soon. New LAN centre that opened in Cardiff. A lot of people are saying it won't do well, and yeah they seem to be right. However it's a nice change and I wish them the best.

Just working up the courage. Remember, not a people person :P

I may write something more a little later but right now I am really hot and bothered. (Cinderella HELL YEAH!)

Hey look, it was bound to happen sometime.

It's boiling here and the heat makes me frustrated and pissed off. Therefore I ignore the good things and focus on the bad. At the moment the bad thing is my weight D:

It took some pictures from an eFragz outing to kind of kick me in the face. (I'll put a slideshow of images from the outing on here later)

I sit around and game and watch movies all day, I hardly get outside so I am pale. Not a wonderful look. I dread going back to Weight Watchers though...People.

I wish the pool would be empty too. My god I would swim all day if I could.

I didn't start this blog in time for Bat #1 however another Bat (Bat#2) decided to make their presence known.

My cats, my evil cats, sometimes come back with "presents" that are sometimes still very much alive and usually mice. However recently the youngest are bringing back Bats.

This one was sitting in a box with some water all nice an quiet much like the previous bat but then decided to scare the hell out of me by flying into my face while I was watching a video. It then stuck itself onto my lovely black wallpaper and stared at me for awhile.

Its now down and was taken outside.

Didn't see him/her fly off but it definately got out.

Lets see...The LAN is in about 4 weeks and I have broken my headset, my keyboard is growing its own universe and the amount of installed games on my PC is slim to none. Argh.At least everything is paid for and I know I am going. I would be in a wreck if I still hadn't got a ticket. 48/50 now.

I treated myself to a new headset (Sennheiser PC166) and a new keyboard (Hello Kitty) hahahahahaha.

Anyway, Christ it is hot here D:

Decided not to go to Bogiez anymore. I liked the place, I loved the place, I just don't feel right when I am there. The music is great and the people are fun. HEAT MAKES CRAZY HAPPEN

Oh dear I really don't know how much longer I can cope with the heat here. I am British, this isn't right I tell you.

On another crappy note, nothing particularly interesting happened today.

However I was pondering about that issue that often pops into my head. There is a skull in my head. A skull. A whole skull is inside there. Freaks me out. Like when I suddenly realise everyone around me has thoughts also, that they are thinking things, that I am just the same. Gives me the shivers.

Another thought that usually creeps into my head is that of human flesh. Now, if I had any readers I would most likely lose them after what I am about to say. I often wonder about what it tastes like. I love pigs skin, is it the same? Its crept into my head again when I watched the movie "Grimm Love/Rohtenburg" about a student looking into the life of a famous German cannibal and a man who agreed to be eaten by him.

OH WAIT something cool did happen today!!! I have the whole first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers at my fingertips. Woo. Nothing like a good fight with proper monsters.

Anyway, I must flee to a TF2 server to help a friend farm. Ugh. Thought I was done with it.

Small addition: The rifle association in Cardiff got back to me on the membership. Woohoo.

God damn. I wish I took care of my hard drives. I try so hard at first.

You know, the shiny new feel of a re-formatted drive. Beautiful. Addictive even.

I say to myself, this time I will treat you like a queen, as you should be.

Then the programs. So many to choose from, so many types. I must have them all.

Eventually you are overrun. And yet again, the queen is reduced to a servant. Scrubbing the floors of partially uninstalled software.

Poor, poor queen drive.

Anyway, my issue at the moment. Steam. The redownloads and then the updates. I never really realised how many games I have on there. Not that I am not grateful. It's my fault really. Should install my games on my other drive. I just. I'm only human. I forget.

Mind you, not like I am in a hurry to redownload Team Fortress 2. Ugh. I miss that game.

Updates, I hate you like I hate the sleep in my eye on a hot summer day full of pollen. I hate you. I can't open my eyes updates. Let me open my eyes again D:

First Post (ish)

Ok ok, this isn't technically the first post. However it is the first post I will have actually written.

Anyway, I am psyched at the moment because the next LAN is coming up - 4th July - and I have a place there! It will be the third LAN I have been to with these guys and I can't wait. I almost didn't make it because of my financial situatio which I will talk about in a moment. It is ridiculous how fast the tickets go though. Sold out within the week? Sheesh! Here's a little taste of what's to came I guess haha!

Oh Monkey, you are an oddball.

So, my situation I hear you awkwardly try and dodge asking about? Well I was made redundant in February this year and can't seem to land a job. My area of choice? Accounts >_>. You see I got kick out of college a long time ago now and didn't try again. I got a chance to work alongside my mother (ohdeargod) as an "accounts assistant" (I made the tea and occasionally highlighted some lists of numbers). Some how I ended up being the Purchase Ledger Clerk of the company in the two years I worked there. Now it's all I can do. However I don't have any qualifications in it because I was heading towards the I.T. sector when in school.

A chance for me to fix this arose when someone told me of a scheme that would give me money to train. Now I am going to be taking an Accounting Technician diploma in July. Fun stuff right?

Its not where I saw myself heading to be honest. I wanted to be a programmer. The solitude. The languages. Perfection.

I gotta think of myself as being lucky though. Plus, I have awhile to live yet. Hopefully :D

Gosh what a boring post. I'll make it better next time!!!
